Description
This training provides a comprehensive overview of pediatric ventral wall defects, covering the two major congenital abdominal wall abnormalities: gastroschisis and omphalocele. Participants learn about the definition, epidemiology, embryology, pathogenesis, prenatal diagnosis, associated anomalies, antenatal surveillance, delivery planning, neonatal stabilization, surgical management, postoperative care, and prognosis of affected newborns. The training emphasizes multidisciplinary management from prenatal detection through neonatal surgical care.
Objectives
Participants will be able to accurately diagnose, counsel, stabilize, and coordinate the multidisciplinary management of newborns with gastroschisis and omphalocele, from prenatal detection to surgical treatment and postoperative care.
