Venue:

Description

Healthcare professionals operate in demanding environments characterized by emotional strain, high workloads, long working hours, exposure to suffering and significant professional responsibilities. These factors can contribute to burnout, compassion fatigue, anxiety, depression and other psychological challenges. Despite their role in caring for others, healthcare professionals may overlook their own mental health needs. This session will provide a platform for reflection and discussion on the mental wellbeing of healthcare workers, highlighting occupational stressors, early warning signs of psychological distress and practical approaches to self-care, peer support and professional help-seeking.

Objectives

By the end of the session, participants should be able to: Identify common workplace stressors affecting the mental wellbeing of healthcare professionals. Differentiate between occupational stress, burnout and compassion fatigue. Recognize early indicators of psychological distress among healthcare workers. Discuss practical self-care strategies and workplace interventions that promote mental wellness. Identify appropriate professional support systems and referral pathways for healthcare workers experiencing psychological distress.
